Yael, 11, lives in Newton, Massachusetts. She loves to read, especially mystery novels, and bake delicious treats. Diagnosed with cancer in her leg a little over a year ago, Yael’s family connected with Chai Lifeline, which provided them with a network of support.
“It was really great that my parents got to meet other parents experiencing similar challenges”, said Yael. “When I went for surgery, everything was overwhelming, until we met Chai Lifeline. Everything became a little happier and we had a better experience than we would have had without them.”
At the recommendation of her medical team, Yael attended Camp Simcha, Chai Lifeline’s summer camp for children with cancer and blood disorders. “It felt like a dream”, she said. “When I went to Camp Simcha, it was incredible to meet friends who knew exactly what I was going through with cancer.”
