Sarah Naomi, 15, lives in Baltimore, Maryland. Her hobbies include listening to music, watching Disney and Marvel movies, and hanging out with friends. An art and design enthusiast, she hopes to one day pursue a career in architecture.
At age 10, Sarah Naomi contracted a virus that caused major damage to her heart and required her to undergo surgery to receive a heart transplant. The life-saving procedure was performed on the first night of Chanukah.
"My surgery happened during a holiday in which we celebrate miracles, and I was fortunate to experience my own personal miracle – receiving the gift of life," said Sarah Naomi.
For the past five summers, Sarah Naomi has been attending Camp Simcha Special. "Each summer has been an amazing experience," she said. "Each camper has their own story, and I made a lot of friends here who have been through similar experiences. We all recognize living life to the fullest each day… you only have one life."
