Zeesy, the 13-year-old daughter of Chabad of Montana shluchim [emissaries], Chavie and Chaim, was born with a rare genetic disorder that caused her to have seizures and developmental delays. Living in Bozeman, Montana can be socially isolating for a young observant Jewish girl, however when Zeesy’s parents learned about Camp Simcha, Chai Lifeline's medically supervised overnight camp, they quickly recognized its potential benefits for their daughter.
Given Zeesy's disability, which necessitates numerous accommodations for eating and medical support, her mother believed Camp Simcha could provide valuable support. Zeesy has attended Camp Simcha for the past three summers, an experience that has profoundly impacted her life. “I feel like a normal kid going away to sleepaway camp," she said.
Chai Lifeline has become an essential and transformative resource for the family, extending beyond summer support. Zeesy eagerly anticipates camp throughout the year and regularly maintains communication with her camp peers and counselors via Facetime. Despite her medical challenges, Zeesy looks forward to leading a typical and fun teenage life full of resilience and strength.
